Stop by the Asteasu fountain and discover the magic of its surroundings
Asteasu
Asteasu is a town of 1,500 inhabitants located on the slopes of Mount Hernio. Together with the small towns of Aduna, Zizurkil, Alkiza and Larraul, it forms the Aitzondo valley. It is the place where the writer Bernardo Atxaga was inspired to create the literary geography of Obaba, where you can discover unusual landscapes, smells and sounds.
In the forest that runs through the river Usorrabi, in the rural neighborhood of Upazan, among the village houses, in these and other places in Asteasu, an ancient perfume lingers. The Basque language, Euskera, has a great presence. However, in half an hour you can be in San Sebastián, Zarautz or Leitza in Navarra.
You can go to the city, walk along the coast, or take a walk around Mount Hernio. The town, although small, is well equipped with services: Health Center, pharmacy, shops, bars, restaurant, etc. You can also travel by BUS to nearby Villabona where the train station is located, with free parking for cars.
